The site is back up this morning!!

Marty is amazing and has helped me so much you'd think he was part of my familia!! I am also unable to connect to the site, but I have read that they take the site down sometimes over a weekend (or more) to update the records. Hopefully, that's what has happened and we should see it up again soon ...

I have been searching the records and trying to learn how to read them, and I have found a record that doesn't make sense to me.

I was searching the San Chirico Nuovo indexes for mention of the last name CIANCI and came across an entry for a child named Domenica Cianci, born 8 December 1888 in San ...

Thank you again, Marty!

Thanks, Marty! I am doing something wrong...I took the index number to mean the number in the upper right corner of the record. In the case of the record I found for Anna Isabella Iula the index says "91" but the record you found is "107." Can you tell me where I'm off?

Another instance - I have ...

I probably don't have to tell you that I won't sleep AT ALL tonight now that I understand how to use the indexes! I have several Italian lines that I'm researching and this is great help to me. I really appreciate all the help I get on this forum.

Nancy

I just found the marriage record for Vito Nicola and Angela Ottati and was going to ask you to translate - thank you SO MUCH!

Nancy

I just found his wife, Anna Isabella Iula, in the index for Laurenzana 1832. I've found the record itself and I cannot figure out where it even says her name. Can you look at this and tell me if it is, in fact, Anna Isabella Iula?

Marty!! A million thanks!! Based on the record you shared with me, I went to the index looking for the birth of Michele Arcangelo Cianci in 1832 found him!!!! I'm elated, this is really exhilarating. I can't read the record, so could you take a look at it and tell me what the important information ...

Ron -thanks for the link to your smugmug - that is exactly what I have to do, I have to start learning some of the words that I'll need to know to extract information. Thank you very much!!

Nancy

Marty, if you could point me to one of the indexes on the antenati site, I would sure appreciate it. I am looking at the years 1832 and 1833 (births) and I don't see pages at the end that represent an index. I must be missing something important here.

Nancy

Ron and Marty -

Marty is right, I'm still looking - always looking! I went to the familysearch site and started scanning records and actually found some quite by accident, as I still had not figured out what the indexes are. Thank you for steering me toward more sources of information, Ron!

Marty ...

Last year members of this forum helped me find several members of my family to add to my tree, and I have been trying to do some searching on my own in the card catalog ever since. Marty gave me some instructions last year and I have been able to get to the Italian records, but I am wondering if ...

Thank you, Tessa!

I just checked the manifest, and the problem is I had his name as Antonio - on this manifest, he is Antonino. Here is the link to Ellis - I hope this works - http://www.ellisisland.org/search/passRecord.asp?FNM=A&LNM=LEONE&PLNM=LEONE&SYR=1907&EYR=1907&first_kind=1&last_kind=0&town_kind=0&ship_kind=0 ...
