Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Alexr119 how did it go with your amendment? I just got my positive sentence yesterday (hooray!!!!) and it lists my birthday as 22.4.977 instead of 22.4.1977. An obvious typo error. Is this what happened with you? It seems ridiculous to have to wait a year to fix a typo! I wrote Luigi about it but ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
For those of you above who just had your judge assigned, this google doc will be immensely helpful. There is a Brazilian Facebook group dedicated to the 1948 process and thanks to google translate I have obtained quite a bit of information regarding the process! One member of the group created a ...

Re: Average cost of translation for 1948 case?
Hello - I had 11 documents translated by Luigi's translator and she charged $1000 euros. Apparently this is far more than what she charged even three years ago, so it seems she is getting more expensive. Someone else paid her $400 for about that many documents in 2016

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
So, update on my case. The first hearing was today, March 20 2018. Alas the judge has ordered a second hearing....for, get this, March 19, 2019.
Our case was filed in April 2017. So that was 11 months for the first hearing, now an entire year for the next. Reading through the forums this does not ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Hello all!
So we have a date for our first hearing! It will be March 20, 2018. The judge is Albano Silvia. Anyone have any experience with him?
I'm also still nervous about the name change issue. Two of my sisters took their husband's name when they married, dropped their middle names, and added ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
They do have updated drivers' licenses, passports, and ss cards with their new names, so I guess that's not the issue. The issue is proving that they are actually the same people, just with different names. I sent Luigi a copy of my sisters pre- and post-marriage passports that clearly show this is ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Unfortunately when we took the POA with my sisters' maiden names on it to the notary we were told that they could not notarize a document with names that are not the same as my sisters' current identification. So we are left moving forward with the trial under their new names - Luigi was only ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Thank you jennabet! That makes sense - it's the same in many Latin American countries. Unfortunately we haven't caught up over here, and it sometimes leads to problems - I, for instance, don't have the same last name as my son, who has his father's name. I like how in Mexico kids get two surnames ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Hello all, thank you so much for those who took the time to answer my question regarding translating fees. We did decide to go with Teresa and it was worth it for us knowing that she is so experienced with Luigi's cases.
I now have a second question that is puzzling me. Two of my sisters changed ...

Re: 1948 Case with Luigi Paiano
Hello all - first time poster here. My family and I have just sent all of our documents to Luigi to begin our trial process. Very exciting! There are 6 of us in the trial. I just received word from Luigi's translator, Teresa, that she is ready to begin translating our documents. I see that some of ...
