Names on birth record contain "of"
My grandfather's birth record lists his parents names with "di ...." after their last names. Does this mean that they are "of" followed by their father's first name?

I have the same situation for my grandfather's birth record except that at the bottom, the secretary does write "dichiarante e testimoni asserito di essere illetterati". I've tried to translate it and I think it says "declarant and witnesses alleged to be illiterate". Both of my great-grandparents ...
