Around 2002, I started research but it was not easy to find all documentation since much was not online. I wasn't aware my GGF officially naturalized till I started with ICA but there was some presumption he did.
I was also not clear on my options since I knew my GGGPs did not naturalize. One ...

Re: New decree as of March 28th, no more citizenship by blood past 2 generations.
No you are okay, ICA responded to me since my last post. All is still on for October with my case.
If all goes as planned, this might be done in late 2025 or early 2026.
ICA stated it will be approx. 60 days after the court date, then AIRE registration, etc. Consulate appt for Passport.

Yes, more here:

I still haven't heard back from ICA, but I'm not too concerned about it at this point and will wait until the dust settles and my court date in October draws nearer.

CaputoBruno:
I'm still waiting for a response from ICA, but I've read on Reddit that they let go of at least 200 staff members after the decree. So, I may need to call them to get an update.

Re: New decree as of March 28th, no more citizenship by blood past 2 generations.
I haven't heard back from ICA yet about this. I have been on Reddit because it has a significant following and many discussions on the topic.
One is that the decree is not retroactive, so hopefully, this means that those who have cases filed in court before the decree date will be grandfathered ...

New decree as of March 28th, no more citizenship by blood past 2 generations.
This will likely be the end of the road for a significant percentage of people seeking citizenship through their great-grandparents and beyond, including myself. Still, it does note that cases already legally submitted to the courts will be reviewed. Grandfathered perhaps??

Re: Italian Dual Citizenship companies
I'm using ICA, and I highly recommend them. I started my citizenship case in 2020 during the pandemic. Initially, I was going to use my GGF, but later found out he naturalized. The path then switched to my GGM instead, so I'm a 1948 case. ICA has been instrumental in helping connect the dots ...

Re: Italian Dual Citizenship Maternal GGM -1948 Judicial Procedure
I retained ICA in 2020, and they had tiered pricing; I went with the highest one at the time, which I believe they called "Executive," and it was around what you noted for the cost. If I could do it over again, I would do the same since my case was a 1948 case with many document issues (spelling of ...

Re: Italian Dual Citizenship Maternal GGM -1948 Judicial Procedure
I’m using ICA, they have been excellent. Court date for my case is October 2025 in Catanzaro.
Initially it took 6 months + to retain them due to the number of inquiries they had, but the process started in late 2020. The pandemic also slowed down the document retrieval process but I’m hoping for ...

Re: 1948 case, confusion around 1922 laws
Based on your info, I'd say all naturalization records are in USCIS or NARA hands, but I'd also do a county courthouse search where your ancestors lived/married. I initially thought my GGF did not naturalize, but the record was found that he did. My GGM never did other than marriage (prior to 1922 ...

Re: Dual Citizenship MUST DO
For my case, ICA needed NARA and USCIS info and a letter from the county in Pennsylvania where my great-grandparents were married and resided. The letter from the county was stamped with a seal and noted no records existed that my ggm naturalized, thus the pathway for a 1948 case.

Re: New 1948 Case Law
I started my case with ICA in January 2021, and my court case is scheduled for Catanzaro next year. It has been a long process, and much of it has been delayed due to the pandemic. I have a 1948 case, and while I feel confident I'll get citizenship, I'm prepared to accept that it might be denied. My ...

I will need a court order to amend my GF name on my mother's birth certificate (all Philadelphia County). I cannot find any information on what court to file the petition with, if anyone can respond that has done it themselves? Also if anyone has a template or sample petition.
Marriage records ...

Hi @afecad,
I'm preparing to apply for Italian citizenship based on my GGF, who never acquired US citizenship. What is ICA? It sounds like they were very helpful in your case.
Thanks!
