Re: Tempio Pausania, Sardinia

Thank you for the links. The one about older graves was very interesting. I know in places like Germany and Denmark they do the same thing, due to space if the family does not pay to keep the graves, they just remove the stones and rebury someone else in the grave.

I don't know if they would have ...

Tempio Pausania, Sardinia

Is there a way to contact someone in Tempio about a cemetery there to see if I could get photos of the grave/monument of Bernardo de Muro?

Thank you,
Rachel

Re: Inscription inside a Sunday Missal

That would make sense. Bernardo died in 1955, so I am not sure what the numbers mean, but probably a reference to something. Their daughter is still alive perhaps she would know.

Thanks again for the help!

Re: Inscription inside a Sunday Missal

Thanks for the help. Not sure what the 1902 refers to though, she had not met her husband Bernardo until 1924.

Her name was Elena Wait wife of Bernardo de Muro, but they did not marry until 1925. In 1902 she would have only been 8 years old and living in America.

Strange, unless it refers to a ...

Inscription inside a Sunday Missal

Having some trouble reading it.

Any help would be appreciated with what is written, who wrote it and the date (I think the date is on there)

Sorry the photo is sideways, not sure why it is posting like that.

Thanks in advance,
Rachel

Re: Umberto Gagliasso 1889 - 1947

I have a feeling he was embellishing when he told Helen that about his father, knowing she was an opera singer, he probably figured it would make him look better in her eyes.

Actually, I found a lot of people I have researched over the years tended to fib quite a lot, especially back in the day ...

Re: Umberto Gagliasso 1889 - 1947

Yes, I did check the family trees and contacted the owners, but no one could help me with information other than what they had on the site. The people who responded to me they said they got their information from other trees on Ancestry.

Umberto Gagliasso 1889 - 1947

I am still trying to do research on a woman from my hometown, and have information about her 2nd husband, but I am at a loss for anything about her 1st husband, though it was a short marriage (1920-1922/23 I cannot find a divorce record, so it probably took place in S. America).

I have checked ...

Re: Salvatore Salvati (1885-1959)

Thank you, Tessa, and suanj! This information helps a lot! It may be why he ended up in Austria then Switzerland teaching.

One of the sopranos he sang with in S. America also had to flee from Italy. She and her husband (also a singer) tried to get permission to leave, but her husband being one of ...

Salvatore Salvati (1885-1959)

I am hoping to find descendants or relatives of the opera tenor Salvatore Salvati. I do not have much information on him, so I don't even know if he ever married let alone had any children.

He was born in Naples in 1885 and died in Olten, Switzerland in 1959. As I mentioned, he was an opera singer ...

Help with Milano Civil Marriage Record

Hello,
