Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Hi,
You will need to upload your document to a image sharing site such as Photobucket or imageshack so someone can view it. Documents attached to posts do not come through.

AND...I would strongly suggest you follow Peter's recommendation of the Lynn Nelson book. That really helps you get a handle on just what you're looking at.

Re: Advice on searching micofilm records
Hi Frank, I've found that some (not all) comunes have an index list at the end of each year of birth records (nati). I've found that looking to the index list first speeds things up a bit. You find the number of the birth record there and it makes it quicker to go back and find that record. I didn't...

Re: Help needed with translation (Italian Birth Certificate)
Hi Livio,
"Michele Facione figlio di fu Fortunato di anni trentadue"
Should the father's age be 32, not 33? Just wanted to mention this in case the poster wants to go further back to find father's birth record.

Re: Annotation on a birth record from Como
Looks like a correction to what was written - "was born a baby of female sex" and should be "was born a baby of male sex." Seems someone wrote the wrong sex for the baby born on 11 February 1934.
Someone will be sure to check this again and offer a full translation.

Typo - the administrator's last name is Bartolotta, and of course, "to his wofe" should read "to his wife".

I have downloaded a .ged file but find that I can't open it. Is there freeware out there that I can download to help me open the file?

Re: Family History Library
You can use the link that Peter has provided to search the catalog from home. Under "search records" you can choose to search by place, name, etc. Write down the film numbers so that when you go to your FHC you just have to type them in.
And the book Peter suggested...INVALUABLE!!!!

Re: Family History Library
At the FHC in my area you must order the microfilms online, but this must be done at the FHC. The link for ordering is only available at the center on their computer. They notify you when the films come in, usually 3-4 weeks.

Re: Need help to find relatives
Hi Fred, You can access Ellis Island records by ship, then by date. However, I haven't been able to access by date first, then by ship. If you click on link under Passenger Search for "search by ship" you will get an alphabet. After choosing the first letter of the ship name you will have ...

Re: Short paragraph please
You're welcome, I hope the documents will be sent soon, from Sorano, that I urge daily my friends. I did not notice the twins, though. I can see that the only direct relative is Felicina, granddaughter of my father, Giuseppe Biagiani 1902, and sister of Piero Biagianti, another first cousin, and fat...

There is a Castrovillari (dould it have been written "C.villari"?) about 35 km north of Malvito.
Don't know if that will help...
