Looking for definition of occupation for G-G-G Grandfather
Hi, In a search for my Great Great Grandmother birth record, I was able to find not one but two Filomena Allocca's born the same year. I am assuming one of them is the right record. In working on interpretation, the father of both Filomena Alloccas had a occupation listed as: pittinatore I wasn't su...

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
I have always heard from family that the Criscillo Family was from the Naples area. Recently, I spoke with Luigi's oldest grandchild (87) and she didn't hesitate when she said they were from Caserta. (and she is still one sharp lady:) I did see that the year of Naturalization listed on the 1920 Cens...

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
Laura, I see a record for Westchester County NY for a Naturalization Petition for a Luigi Criscilia. Petition A-0140 (9) L [F3] This was just the first time I've seen something close for him. Do you think an immigrant would travel across the river from Manhattan to Westchester to file his Natualizat...

I've seen him, too. I wonder if he's the brother ? I haven't researched him too much, but I wonder where he's from.

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
I'll definatley take a look at that record for Alex Crescillo. Thanks:) I was under the impression that fireworks accident happened in Italy, but I could be mistaken. It could have happened in the US. This is a story from my father's cousins. Family also talks about a brother of Luigi that lived in ...

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
FYI, today the last name is spelled Criscella.
I see it spelled as Criscillo on Luigi's Marriage Record but that doesn't mean it wasn't Cricilli.

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
Holy Crap:) So do you think that the last name spelling on my Great Uncle Nick's Birth Certificate is correct? Is it an i instead of an o? Where can I order his Birth Certificate?
Luigi's Father was Nicolo on Luigi's Marriage Record. I wonder if it was really an a at the end.

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
Unfortunatley, I do not know Luigi's Brother's Name. I would think if I did it would provide some more possible clues. I'm sure it was a big story at the time wherever it happened.

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
Thank you both:) Yes that is my family tree on Ancestry. I have seen the information on the Criscillo Family, but the 1900 Census for the Barretta Family is new:) I knew my Great Grandmother had sisters, but I had no idea how old they were or their names nor did I realize that Giuseppe was yet anoth...

Re: Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
This is correct, Laura.
The family is from Pittsburgh today, with Luigi and Fortunata moving here in the shortly after their 1st son was born in 1901.

Criscillo Family-Issues determining city
Greetings ! I've been unable to find a manifest or naturalization papers for my Great Grandfather, Luigi Criscillo. I knew the family was from the Naples area, but after a recent lunch with my 87 year old 2nd Cousin she confirmed the family was from Caserta. I've looked at microfilm for the year he ...

Re: Luigi Criscillo-Immigration and Naturalization Records
In some ways, I'm glad that Criscillo isn't a common name. You would think information would be easier to find.
Thanks for this information;) The site you posted is really interesting. It actually helps with my Great Grandmother's family, and Great Grandfather on my Mother's side.
