Carmine Pascale (and fam) from Satriano di Lucania, aboard the Lapland, April 1924:
It looks like the file numbers are 4/36112-4/36114 and the date was 2/15/34 -- does the AJ mean something I should know about?

The 'AJ' is probably the initials of the person making the notation.

Ah, I was thinking maybe it indicated the court or something. Based on the link, looks like District 4 in 1934 was Baltimore/Washington/VA.
Do you think it's likely they were living there, or just that they thought DC might be the most expedient court, being the capital and all? I mean, if anyone has experience with this. I've never done NARA stuff; it seems complicated and unfortunately the records are always located on the other side of the country.
