I know the feeling. I've had several contacts with comuni who first send me a letter that they have no record, then I send a second request and get the documents.ricbru wrote:From my point of view they do not know what they are doing, and they do not cooperate too much, this is an expense of money, time and trust

At least you do not have a serious problem. I have a spelling error that's the fault of the government, and have to pay thousands of dollars to have a lawyer fix it.
Re: unbelieveble but true!!!!
I do not think the spelling error was just a mistake of the registrar, since at that time there was not Id, not certificate of birth, or something like that, your ancestor just went in the registrar office to declare the report, and he just declared by voice the name and last name of the baby, for sure the registrar understood something else because not familiar with italian last names and now you are there to pay a lot of money for doing this amendament on his US birth record (I'm sure you need this fixing for application of italian citizenship!).matta wrote: At least you do not have a serious problem. That is what happened!!
Good luck for everything
Riccardo
p.s. it also happened to me that the first time I sent the requesto to the comune of Trapani they were not able to find the death record of my great grandmother (she is still buried in the cemetery of Trapani and there is the tombstone stating her right and complete date of death), the second time I went personally and they found it, so I think sometimes they work with not interest on doing it!!!!

Dear Ricbru how can we help you? =Peter=
Re: unbelieveble but true!!!!
Dear friends,
thank you very much for your help.
I opened this thread to let you know about my strange experience, the most important thing is that I have the complete file of my uncle Francesco Paolo Bruno, issued to me by USCIS of Lee's Summit, MO, meanwhile USCIS from Washington DC issued for me a certified negative answer stating that he never naturalized as US citizenship.
Yes he did naturalize.
I also have the transcribed copy of Nicholas Bruno's naturalization paper.
The photocopy from the real records (sent to me by USCIS of Lee's Summit, MO) as a 8O 8O "best copy available" (!!!) 8O 8O was very very blurry, so unreadable at all(!!!) 8O 8O . I sent those copies back to Lee's Summit
asking them to have a readable copy (I'm sure it is on a microfilm) because I want to put it on a frame on the wall of my living room.
This is the letter I wrote them on last June 18th, and they didn't reply to me yet

Dear Manager,
my name is Riccardo BRUNO and I write from Ravina, Italy.
Last July 30, 2007 I wrote you in order to request my great uncle Nicolò (Nicholas) BRUNO's Declaration of Intention, Petition and Certificate of Naturalization (# 2223217 issued on May 25th 1928 by 4th District Court ,Monroe, Louisiana- Court number 1413)
With process number GEN2007000171 you replied me (date January 23rd, 2008) sending the above documents, but I'm sorry to say that those photocopies you made for me are very very blurry and unreadable at all.
I would really appreciate if you please could send me an highest quality photocopies of the above documents, because I would like to put them on a frame in my living room
I attach to this letter all the informations I have about Nicholas Bruno's naturalization process.
I thank you very much in advance for everything you would do for me.
I will look forward to hear from you soon
Have a nice day
Regards
Riccardo Bruno
Maybe someone can make a phone call for me, to speed up the process, and to see if they can send me high quality copies from real records?
I would really appreciate it
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me
bye Riccardo

Re: unbelieveble but true!!!!
Dear Lee when you call go thru adminstration and avoid operations and ask for Directors office. You probably will speak with secretary and see if you can catch her ear, since she can work wonders being his secretary. I know that your bright, witty, charming, generous and kind and above all brilliant and you can pull it off!! =Peter=
Re: unbelieveble but true!!!!
Just got off the phone, bad news.....the image that was sent to you was taken from microfilm. She agreed the image was in very bad shape,
she stated every attempt was made to adjust the image before making a copy......but that is the only copy they have.
I'm wondering if there is an archived copy in Louisiana???
Sorry Riccardo, was hoping to do more.

Re: unbelieveble but true!!!!
Lee, thank you for your big help
I really appreciate it
The Clerk of courthouse in Monroe was already inquired by me, and he said that he checked twice and didn't find anything
Some volounteers during the 1990's transcribed all the naturalization papers and saved to Ouachita Public Lybrary in Monroe, Lousiana, so that is how I have a transcribed copy of them
I do not understand how these volounteers have been able to have in their hands a readable copy of it, and I don't know where the real copy is saved.
Any suggestion? He filed to 4th District Court of Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Lousiana
hugs
Riccardo
