Grandfather ship's name
Grandfather ship's name
I am trying to piece my family together. The nice people here helped me find my Grandmothers ship, in the matter of minutes.
I believe is what I have is my Grandfater's ship and date of arrival, but can not find anything on the ships's name. So I need your help ... again
Information I have:
Vincenzo Trombatore Born October 1845 in Corleone and arrived in New Orleans, LA on the S.S. PO December 8, 1891
He came to the USA before the rest of his family.
If anymore information is needed, please let me know.
Thank you.
Mardi

Re: Grandfather ship's name
There were 33 ships who entered the port of New Orleans in December 1891 and none of them have a name similar to or part of "PO". Should you wish to research further when you have more information then go to www.stevemorse.org/index.html =Peter=

Re: Grandfather ship's name
Peter I have checked Steve Morse web site, could not find anything also.
The list that I received the information from, was from a pasenger list of Ancestors to New Orleans, LA Italians from Sicily and Italy.
The ship SS PO - do you have any idea what the PO stands for?
Thank you,
Mardi

Re: Grandfather ship's name
The PO is most likely the name of the shipping company that owns the vessel you are attempting to uncover . P&O is the Orient & Blue Anchor Line Company.. You may have to get a passenger list to find the vessel name. =Peter=

Re: Grandfather ship's name
Hi,
I believe my great-grandmother was also on this ship, S. S. Capitain that entered New Orleans on December 08, 1891. Her married name was Maria Lombardo. Her maiden name was Maria D'ambolo. She was from Contessa Entellina and was married to Antonino Lombard. Is there any record of her on the manifest?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
