Napolitano

Post by DarkSide »

Good Afternoon!

My name is Cristiano, and i´m looking for help with my search.
My g.g.parents went to brazil I don´t know when, but i have in here some papers, with the date of the death.
FORTUNATA BONIFACIO
JOAO NAPOLITANO.
Probably, he´s real name were Giovanni, cuz in that time, they used to change the peoples name to be more easy to understand (in brazil)
Fortunata Bonifacio borns in 1878 and died in 1942 with 64 yo
Joao Napolitano has born in 1865 and died in 1939 with 74 yo.
I know that they married in Italy, more or last in 1897 before they went to brazil.
He left 2 suns in Italy, from his other marriege.

If someone could help, it will be very nice.

Ps: sorry 4 my inglish hehe :D

Hey Cathy!
They were from Naples I guess...
I want to know how can I find a registry of their marriege, and also, a birth one...
In the past, i was trying to have a d.nocionality, but I stopped cuz of this, i have docs about the death, but it only says "natural from naples, Italy.

Thanks a lot!

Naples is a huge seaport, city and Province. There are a lot of comunes (towns) there and many of the people who left Italy, left from Naples. Napolitano is a very common name there. You can try writing the Stato Civile offices in Naples and request a copia intergrale of the marriage act. (atti di matrimonio). They have a website that contains their email and regular addresses HERE You can also request a copy of their birth acts (atto di nascita or nati).
If you are unsure if they were born in Naples, you will need to determine their birthplace first. Did they die in Brasil? Were their children born in Italy of Brasil?
There are several people on this forum who are expert in Italian Dual citizenship. Hopefully they can assist you on what documentation is required to obtain your objective.

Dear Darkside I believe that Giovanni Napolitano entered Brazil at Rio de janeiro (Sao paulo) on 6/171890 IF this is where he landed when he arrived in Brazil There is no Fortunata Bonifacio travelling to Rio with him or travelling alone. There is no Fortunata but there are Bonifacio. Could she have another first name??

You did not provide us with any cities, states, ports which makes it very difficult to assist you. Once you know the town they went to reside, where they got married and the town where they lived, got married or died then it will become easier to check the "Cadastro de Cartorios".

Cathynap is trying very hard to help you and so will I but you have give us all the information. =Peter=

Do you know their first names by any chance and about when they were born or what age they were when Joao left Italy for Brazil. I ask this because it maybe possible to trace the boys military records in Napoli province in the event we cannot locate a birth record for Fortunata Bonifacio Napolitano. She was born in 1878.

However you should try to obtain a birth record from the City of Napoli since it may very well be that she was born there and not in a small town in the provinces. Go to the following website which is in english and has form letters in Italian language: The service is free
http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

The address to send the request in Italian for her birth record (Estratto di Nascita) is COMUNE DI NAPOLI, SERVIZIO CENTRALE CIVILE, UFFICIO CORRISPONDENZA VALORI, IL TRAVERSA PRIVATA, PARCO QUADRIFOGLIO, CAP 80126, NAPOLI, ITALIA .=Peter/Cathy=
