Italian Citizenship - LIPARI family from Trapani, SICILIA

Post by CapeTownItalians »

Have one or two questions, hope someone has the answers;

Our great grandfather was born in Trapani, Sicilia on 27/09/1875.
We have established that he did not give up his Italian Citizenship (he
never became a South African citizen) confirmed by our Dept. of Home
Affairs, when he came to South Africa.
Our grandmother was born in October 1902 and our mother was born
in August 1929 both in South Africa.

Can we, her children, apply for Italian Citizenship? If so how, and if not
why not? We are hearing so many stories that we need to find out what
exactly the requirements are.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Ciao
