Need help reading Marriage Certificate
Need help reading Marriage Certificate
I have a copy of my Great-grandparents' "Atti de Matrimonio". The file is too big to attach for review. It is only 1.6MB. I can email this document. Any assistance in reading and translating the document would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Need help reading Marriage Certificate
Hello,
i translate the most important infos:
on 8th march 1885, at Valmontone civil record office, before the registrar, there are Pontecorvo Francesco,single,31 years old, farmer, born in Valmontone, son of Salvatore and Natalizia Annamaria
and
Rianna Clelia, single, 26, farmer, born in Valmontone, daughter of Raffaele and D'Ambrogi Floridia (?), they came to become husband and wife.
The couple declares that, before the marriage, had 3 kids, registred at Valmontone civil record office, their names are Gerardina Pontecorvo born on 1st april 1880, Angelo Pontecorvo born on 2nd june 1882 and Teresa Pontecorvo born on 4 October 1884, so after the marriage the babies were recognized by the natural parents.
I hope it helps
bye Riccardo

Re: Need help reading Marriage Certificate
After speaking to my aunt last night, this could be my great-grandparents. Instead of Rianna as a last name, could this be Zianna?
My aunt thought that her grandmother's last name was Zianna. The date for Angelo's birth is accurate for my great-uncle.

Klo,
Yes, the bride's last name is Zianna. Sometimes handwriting is not so easy to decipher. This is an old way to write "Z" and can be easily exchanged with "R".

Re: Need help reading Marriage Certificate
Thank you for the clarification.
I have added another marriage record that appears to be my great-grandmother's brother.
Any translation help would be greatly appreciated. This document is easier to read than the previous form.
Thank you.

This is Act # 10 dated March 4, 1889
1st) Zianna Francesco, single, 26 years old, peasant, born in Valmontone, residing in Valmontone, son to Raffaele and D'Ambrosi Florinda;
2nd) Pilozzi Luigia, spinster, 23 y. peasant, born in Valmontone, etc.
daughter to Giovanni and to the late .......Luigia. Sorry but this last surname is very hard to read, it could be anything!

It could be Recchia but it's just a guess.

One of the witnesses was Francesco Pontecorvo, you can see his signature at the bottom of the act.

Re: Need help reading Marriage Certificate
On this marriage record for ANtonio Casaldi and Vittoria Pontecorvo: Florinda Pilozzi is listed. It looks like she was a witness. Does it identify the relationship to either the groom or more likely the bride?

Re: Need help reading Marriage Certificate
No, it's not the same person. This is Pilozzi Florido, peasant, 41 years old and he is a man.
