Am gathering documents to apply for citizenship at the Italian Consulate in LA, CA. My mother was born in Italy. We cannot find any record of a naturalization through the county clerk offices or homeland security or any immigration services offices in both locations where she lived.
I am collecting original letters from all these agencies stating 'no record found'
Question: has anyone had this situation when applying? If so, do you know how the consulate in Los Angeles handles this type of situation?
Thanks in advance

Dear Iolanda, the law says:
In the event that your ancestor never became a naturalized US citizen it must be proven with a certification of "NO RECORDS" from the following:
1. USCIS, 2. NARA (National Archives), 3. the local County Court and 4. a Census Report from the US Dept. of Commerce.
I hope it helps
bye Riccardo
