Help deciphering manifest script

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Re: Help deciphering manifest script

I did not have the Panfilo manifest. That is very interesting.

I'm sure that the family in West Chester, PA is not correct. I have the 1930 census record for my DiTullio family living on Camac St. in Philadelphia. My DiTullio family's first two children were born in Italy, Flavio (son) in 1906 and Josephine (daughter) in 1908.

Beniamino's naturalization papers (1928) identify his wife as Maria, residing in Italy. So, I'm not sure about the 1904 marriage, but may have to obtain a copy of that document for my review.

Thanks for your continued assistance.

Now that I have the same address for the person who I believe is the correct Luigi DiTullio in 1918 (WWI draft card) and 1921 (Beniamino's manifest), I need to find the 1920 census record for 725 Earp Street in Philly.

I have not been able to locate it by searching for individual names. So I'm planning to browse through the records to find the correct address. I suspect it is in Ward 1, but several of the enumeration districts do not have boundary descriptions.

Hi,
You can contact Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, Pa.
They may have a record of his plot.
It may list other people who are buried there.
The people there are very helpful.

So maybe Beniamino arrived in the US and married Giuseppina in Philadelphia. She died or they divorced (after their son Donato died in 1908). Then he returned to Scerni, Italy, married Maria and had 4 childern before he returned to Philadelphia?

I don't know, it's possible....
These records are true... I don't know if they are surely related to the same Beniamino... but as the first name is not so common...it could be...
The same address of 729 federal street....

Why don't ask to the cemetery this information?
Maybe it should reveal some other clues...

I will write to the cemetery and Scerni this weekend. Yesterday, I located a cemetery inventory on the Scerni website that has a Beniamino DiTullio with the same birthdate as that on the US Naturalization papers. Perhaps he returned to Italy twice??

Wow!!! another great find!!

I noticed that also Beniamino's son roberto is buried in the same cemetery:

202 DI TULLIO ROBERTO 07/09/1920 18/10/1885?
LATO DESTRO DI PUNTA SUPERIORE MURO DI CINTA 4

Deat date is probably 1985...

On his petition for the naturalization Beniamino stated his wife's name was Maria and that she was born in Italy on April 30, 1887... well in the same cemetery there is only one Maria with the same birth dte:

22 DI FONZO MARIA 30/04/1887 22/03/1959 REPARTO A 4

Considering that here in Italy women reatin their maiden name, it's probably she was Beniamino's (second?) wife...
