Childrens last name

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Childrens last name

Post by momo1 »

Hi, I qualify for Italian citizenship through my GGF,GF,F. I have two children. I have never been married so didn't put their fathers name on the birth certificates. I thought it would just be easier. That has made them legally only my children. No problems so far. I just read on another site that Italian law says they must take their fathers last name. That's never going to happen and one in now an adult. Has anyone run into this? Their birth certificates list no father and have no signature of a father anywhere. I am going to e-mail the consulate and ask but am thinking I can't be the only one with this situation?

The Italian consulate citizenship section advised that if you have specific questions about your personal case which is not covered by their internet citizenship section to send an e-mail to: Statocivile.newyork@esteri.it

These instructions are contained inthe Consulate General of Italy in New York website. =Peter=

After sending your email, be prepared to wait anywhere from 5 days until the end of time before receiving a response.

Been there, done that.

That's why I posted it here. I don't know if NY will respond to someone in S.F. 's area. I already know S.F. won't respond.
