Aimola and/or Stinziano Surnames
Aimola and/or Stinziano Surnames
Aimola surname. My grandparents immigrated around 1901 to Peterborough Ontario Canada. They were from Rocca San Giovanni Abruzzo. Both grandparents had the same surname, Aimola. Apparently a lot of Aimola's lived in Rocca San Giovanni.
Another family surname is Stinziano.
Has anyone information on these two surnames?
Thank You.

My GG Grandmother was Giovanni Aimola and she was married to my GG Grandfather Mauro Giardino and she immigrated to Peterborough in 1906 from Rocca San Giovanni at the age of 50 and died in 1932.
If you think this is of some use let me know and I can share what info I have.

As far as I can tell this Giovanni Aimola is not related to my grandfather, Thomas Aimola. There are many many Aimola's from Rocca San Giovanni. Surprisingly many came to Peterborough from Ellis Island, New York around the same time.Dean wrote:Patricia:

All I know is my grandfather came first with his brother Peitro around 1901, 1902 or 1903. Peitro went to South America (Brazil) and my grandfather's wife, Anna (nee Aimola as well) came later with two children, Uliana and Louise. My Grandfather would have been about 29 when he immigrated.
I would just like to have a definite date as to their arrival from Italy/

Where did the Stinziano names come from? There were a number of that name in Casacalenda, Molise.
If you would include first names, we can check them out. The more info, the better.

The Stinziano surname comes from one of the Aimola children (my Aunt) who married Louis Stinziano, 32, laborer from Italy. He was the son of Philip Stinziano and Catherine Divo (Diris?). My Aunt's name wa Louise Aimola. She is the daughter of my Grandparents on my mother's side, Thomas Aimola and Annie Aimola both from Rocca San Giovanni Italy.Essgee wrote:Where did the Stinziano names come from? The Stinziano family came from the province of Campobasso via Ellis Ilsand and finally settled in Toronto Ontario Canada. Luigi had three brothers, Nick, Tony and Mike who came in the early 1900's. THere was a sister who died, a brother who died during the war and other brothers who eimigrated to South America.

The names you show, Nick Louie and Tony are familiar to me. Luigi (Louis) born in Larino Italy.came to Canada & married Louise Aimola (Aunt of mine) . Louis had three brothers, Nick, Tony and Mike.
I am not sure whether this is your family or not.
Patricia

I think that Louis was my mothers uncle and my grandfathers brother. I don't know that much about my grandfathers brothers but my mother does. I think that they were probably related their last name would have been Stinziano.

Re: Aimola and/or Stinziano Surnames
I just found out that Louise Stinziano was my mothers aunt. So we must be related Patricia.
Re: Aimola and/or Stinziano Surnames
Well, we might be related! Lets see, Louise Stinziano was born Aimola and was my mom's sister as was another sister, Vera who married Ralph D'Andrea in Toronto I think. There were four sisters altogether. The oldest was named Uliano and she too, married a Stinziano. His first name was Antonio (Tony). All four sisters and their husbands are now deceased. My mom, Mary was the youngest child born in the Aimola family. She and my dad just passed away in 2008. There children are still living and of course the children are all cousins of mine. My oldest cousin is the daughter of Uliano & Tony Stinziano.stinziano1 wrote:I just found out that Louise Stinziano was my mothers aunt. So we must be related Patricia.
You and I must be second or third cousins ????? What is your mother's name and where are you living now? I live about 35 km outside of Toronto.
