Questian on Death Certificate

Post by Grombone »

My grandfather was a resident in NJ but actually died in NY. Where do I need to look for a death certificate?

I don't think that's the answer I wanted. I think my grandfather has left be quite the obstacle course.

Unfortunately, it is notoriously difficult to get certified death certificates from New York State (non-NYC documents). Genealogical copies are available (they take a long time to get), but there are strict limits on who is entitled to certified copies.

I need this document to obtain dual citizenship. Is the State of New York that out of touch with people's needs for records?
