Di Julio, Vacca, Di Benedetto, Di Iorio in Molise

Post by wendellm »

I am tracing the Di Julio, Vacca, Di Benedetto, and Di Iorio surnames in Pizzone and Castel San Vincenzo in Molise. If anyone else is researching these names or researching in Pizzone or San Vincenzo, I would like to share information.

My Great Grandmother was from Castellone al Volturno now Castel San Vincenzo. Her name was Elisebetta di Silvestro. I have almost all the records from this village. Maybe, we are related and can compare information.

Elisabetta married Emiddio Petrocelli from Acquaviva d'Isernia. They moved to Watertown, Ny I have not been able to find her death but my G Grand fahter died in Chicago shortly after moving there.

Look forward to hearing from you

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I would be delighted to share information. My grandfather was born in San Vincenzo al Volturno before it and Castellone merged. His name was Emilio Tobia Di Julio (spelled Di Iulio in later records) and he was born February 29, 1884. His parents were Carmine Di Julio and Maria Cristina Di Benedetto. Cristina was from nearby Pizzone. Carmine's parents were Michele Di Julio and Angelamaria Vacca. Michele was the son of Tobia Di Julio, born around 1786, and Carmela Di Cristofano. Michele's brother Luigi Di Julio married a Di Silvestro, Pasqua Di Silvestro born around 1828. They had three children that I know of: Antonio, Domenico Antonio, and Giovanni Antonio Di Julio. Antonio went on to marry Angelamaria Grimaldi from Pizzone.

This information is from the LDS microfilms from San Vincenzo al Volturno, specifically, the one covering births from 1826-1865. There is one which covers from 1809-1825 that I have on order. Hopefully it will allow me to connect up some of the other Vaccas and Di Julios that I don't know where they go yet. I have quite a few of these (200+) from San Vincenzo. I do have several Di Silvestros who were married to Vaccas or Di Julios, but except for Pasqua mentioned above, I don't know if any are related.

Do you have records after 1865? I would like to find the birth record of my grandfather born in 1884, his brother Vincenzo, and his sister Maria. There were two other sisters, possibly born in the US: Bambina and Angelina. Also, my grandfather's father Carmine died there I believe when the family returned there for a time from the US. This would have been around 1900. The date and circumstances of his death are a mystery.

Feel free to email me directly if you would like. I'm in the South, as well, in Memphis.
