CATHOLIC RECORDS - LONDON - LOOK-UPS OFFERED

Post by carolinechurch »

I have just invested in a CD Rom of London and Middlesex Catholic parish registers, from 1748 - 1853, assorted parishes.
I didn't find what I wanted, but am happy to look up records, as they are all indexed.
Various parishes, and they include marriages, burials, confirmations and baptisms.
Plenty of Italian names, as well as Irish, Spanish and French.
Searching for my great x3 grandfather Raffaele CIACCIA, also known as Raphael/Ralph CHURCH. He was born in Napoli around 1792 and arrived in London before 1812 with his brother Saverio CIACCIA, where they married sisters Ann and Jane FURNEAUX. He switched between CHURCH and CIACCIA all his life, which has made it difficult enough to pin him down. I want to find his origin in Italy.

Hi Livio,
I have had no luck finding them in on my CD, but I found a tree that you may have seen on ancestry.com ?
It belongs to Ian Pace, has an amazing collection of photos and a lot of detail about the people you are searching for. The tree name is Pace Rock.

According to his (unsourced) information, James Drake and Jane Moore were married at Lincoln's Field, also known as St Anselm & St Caecilia, or more usefully, The Sardinian Chapel.
Jane Moore was also christened there.

The Catholic Family History Society has a CD of the Sardinian Chapel parish records from 1772-1841 for sale, it may be worth getting?

I will probably buy volume 2 of the London Transcripts so will keep an eye out for your names there too.
Good luck!
Caroline.

Caroline, thank you very much for your time.
I am in touch with in Ian Pace, we are indeed distant cousins and I was able to integrate my tree as well to provide him with some info he did not have.
Thanks again
