Looking for Surnames

Post by kristin1788 »

Hello, I am looking for any help on the following surnames. Tomasetti or Tomasetta, Vitarelli, Gallo, Lenibo, Leccese, D'Ambrosio, Ambrose or Ambrosio, Bassano, Martelli, Colaiacovo, Pintozzi, Armento.

These are the family names I am looking for. I know that at least one Great grandmother Carmella Ambrose or Ambrosio was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I also, believe that some Lenibo's moved to Argentina. I know that the Martelli's are from Villafranca, Sicily and the Tomasetta or Tomasetti are from Avellino and Garaguso, and the Pintozzi are from San Mauro Forte, and that D'Ambrosio is from Torricelli and the Vitarelli and Leccese is from Tufaro and Gallo and Lenibo are from Gambatesa. I do have some information, but I am looking for churches or websites that might have information online to where I can get birth records and such.

Thanks for the help.

A good way to begin is to narrow your focus. Get very specific about who you want to research first. I've been listening to the on-line class for Italy provided through FamilySearch:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... ctiveTab=2

People on this site will be able to help you better if you provide a full name with date and place of birth or at least a date and a place of residence.

Best wishes!

I just wanted to say that I really found that video very helpful! I have referred to it a couple of times...before going to FHL for the first time and a few times after that....
Researching: Guarino, Di Prisco, Zizza, Panichella, Magno, and now Antonelli, and Calvo....with a few others sprinkled in. Towns: Mirabella Eclano and Bonito (so far).

I agree with response from CowryShells in that since there are many names being researched it is best to start one by one and get as much details possibly available for each. Seems like you may want to start with the name of Tomasetta from Avellino since dominique426 mentioned having ancestors with surname and location match.

Wow, thank you so much! My email is manhattangirl26@aol.com. :)

My GG-grandmother Costantina's mother is Maria Tomasetta. And my GG-grandmother's grandmother is Costantina Tomasetta. They are all from Avellino. I have no information on them other than I believe them to be all farmers.
