There are microfilmed records available for your town for rental through a local family history center at a church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. To find the center nearest your home, go to the website www.familysearch.org
Registri dello stato civile di Racalmuto (Agrigento), 1821-1910
Authors Racalmuto (Agrigento). Ufficio dello stato civile
Going through microfilmed records for your town is the best way to find records for all of the family members you are searching

Re: Puma Family from Racalmuto in Agrigento, Sicily
Thank you for that information. I sometimes see the same people (based on matches on dates and related names such as spouses and children) on different documents with two surnames - Puma and Di Puma. Di in Italian means 'of'. I'm thinking that the difference comes in how the mid-wife who reports the birth to the authorities remembers the name. Not sure if that is the right reason. POssibly, also, there are differences between church and town reporting or surnames, for example church is in Latin; town is in italian) that explain this?

Re: Puma Family from Racalmuto in Agrigento, Sicily
Marty thanks for your assistance.
I think that the Racamuto civil database is only available from the "world-wide" edition of Ancestry.com. This cost about $400.00 annually. This is more than what I want to invest at this time.
Plan B would be to order the Racalmuto civil records on microfilm from the LDS Family History library. This would be much cheaper.
Thanks again.

That's my second cousin. We are already in contact.
Re: Puma Family from Racalmuto in Agrigento, Sicily
I realize this thread is 10 years old but I just found it. Not sure if it's relevant but I am the grandson of Thomas Salvatore Puma who left Sicily/Italy at a young age around the 1920s or 30s. I'll have to find what records I can. I know he had a brother named John and they all settled in Florida. My father was Thomas Craig Puma who was born in Hialeah, Florida in 1957. I'm just trying to see what family lineage I can discover since my Puma family is practically wiped out with just my aunt, cousin, and myself remaining.

I had a first cousin Thomas Craig Puma born January 12, 1956 and died February 28, 2011. He was married to Donna Faye Jones and they had a son Nicholas Craig Puma born January 31, 1984 whom I've never met. Is that you?
