Gallitto family of Ripalimosani

Post by mjordan »

Hello,

People on this forum have been so helpful in tracing the Albanese/Busso side of my family a while ago, I thought I'd try here again for some help with another dead end I'm running into.

My gr-gm on my maternal grandmother's side was Maria Giovanne Gallitto. She was born in Ripalimosani in 1889 and married my gr-gf Nicola Camposarcuno in Ripa in 1905. Nicola came to America in 1907 and Maria followed on Feb 16, 1909. They settled in Cleveland and had 6 children, with my grandmother being the youngest. Maria died in Cleveland in 1953 and was the only one of my Italian great grandparents not to become a US citizen.

According to the ship manifest, she listed her father's name as Giuseppe. Otherwise I know nothing about her or her family, though there were other Gallittos in Cleveland, presumably also from Ripa.

Here is a link to the manifest: http://ellisisland.org/search/shipManif ... 1049%2ETIF

If anyone has any leads on this family, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Surnames: Camposarcuno (Campo/Composino), Gallitto, Albanese, Palmieri
