Roccapalumba, Palermo, Italy

Post by cinderella »

I am looking for information on the Giordano family from Roccapalumba. I am interested in Francesco Giordano (b. 1789) and married to Santa Scaccia. The other lines I am trying to research are: Pravata, Di Gregario, Palazzalo and Greco. Thank you.

Yes...everything is fine. Have just been extremely busy. I have spent the last couple of weeks doing research. Found much information on my Giordano lines in Roccapalumba. Have extended back to the 1700's.
Thanks...Cinderella

Hi Peter:
Just a quick update. I have been researching the microfilms...some many times over as I extend/and find new names. I have been able to trace the Roccapalumba lines back to 1635!!! Thank you for your help and advice.

Hi, I am also researching the Pravata. My GGGrandmother's name was Vincenza Pravata born abt. 1860. She came to the US and settled in Louisiana. Missy

Missy,

What town in Italy does your GGGrandmother come from? If it is not Roccapalumba, this person won't have any information to share with you.

I do not know what town she is from. My GGrandmother was born in Mezzojuso. I don't have much other information on them.

Hi Missy,

If your GGrandmother was born in Messojuso, there is microfilm that you can order and rent from the Family History Center. The film will have the Birth, Marriage, and Death Acts of your ancestors. And depending on the year of birth for your GGrandmother, you should find her Birth Act. The film costs about $3.50 a roll depending on your location.

Here is the link for the film numbers

Here is the link to find the nearest Family History Center.

Do you have any other information on Vincenza? Do you know who she married? Do you know her Date of Birth?

Any tidbit could give us more clues to help you locate where she was from.

I did find these two on Ellis Island.

Steve Morse Site for Vincenza

Name - Residence - Arrival Date - Age
Provata,Vincenza Roccapalmuntra 1900 2 1898
Prevete,Vincenza Italy 1915 33 1882

I hope this helps,

Trish,

Thanks so much for the information. I will rent the film from the Family History Center. I will see what else I can find on her.

Vincenza Pravata was born abt. 1860 she married Salvatore Muscarello and had 5 children: Epifanio DOB abt. 1876, Carmella DOB 1884, Nicola 1894, Francesca 1898, and Stefano or Leonarda. I thought the fifth child was Stefano and then I found Leonarda Muscarello on familysearch.org and lists her parents as Salbatore Muscarello & Vincenza Pravata.

I also found Carmella Muscarello on www.familysearch.org.

I will check out the ship manifests. I believe they came to the US in 1900 or 1901.

Thanks so much for your help.
