Funeral Card Origin

I'm posting this just in case anyone has an idea on how to trace the origin of this deceased person.

I was given this card on a person named "Leone Scaglione" b: 9/4/1884 d: 11/1/1955.
I'm told that this was sent from Italy back in 1955.

I have my doubts. The front of the card has a religious photo and the bottom reads
"printed and copy right in Italy. The back is totally written in English.

I would tend to doubt that a funeral home in Italy would have funeral cards printed in English instead of Italian.

Would appreciate input from anyone.

I tend to agree. Card printed in Italy, death in US.

An Ancestry . com user, "NAFAN25", has a family tree entry for Leone Scaglione, born 1884 Italy, died 1954 New Alexandria, Pennslyvania. Spouse Carmela, and several children.

I'm not sure. This was given to me by my father-in-law as possibly part of his family. He occasionaly gives me things to look for but they are always with limited info.

I can tell you one thing Leone Scaglione that you found would only live 15 minutes away from my father-in-law. The only thing is the death year is off by a year.

The family tree I found on Ancestry . com is for the Fanelli family - Pasquale Fanelli (1898-1959) married Leone Scaglione's daughter Angeline (1909-1969) with whom he had six children.

Note that the widow's name is not Carmela as in the earlier documents. Did he remarry at some point?

Carmela's maiden name can be seen written in column 2 and then scratched out and Scaglione written in. I can't quite make it out, but I believe it is Iannarella - one of the most common surnames in Colliano (as is Scaglione, by the way - http://campania.indettaglio.it/eng/moto ... e=Colliano).

I checked on Westmoreland's e-services and found Leone Scaglione married Leona Iannerella on 11/21/1940.

I see on the death notice you found that the wife is listed as Leona Yeneralli Scaglione.

Yeneralli is probably a simple misspelling of Iannerella, which would actually be pronounced with a Yaan... first syllable. Try it here: http://www.oddcast.com/home/demos/tts/t ... hp?sitepal

Do not be surprised by the possibility that Leona was Carmela's sister; such marriages were not unusual.
