I am researching church records in Sover, Trento, Italy. I am back in the early 17th century.
My question is, I see the name that looks like "Joe's" quite a bit. I also see Joannes, however. So, what is "Joe's"? Is it a short form of Joannes or is it Joseph (Giuseppe)?
I am assuming it is the latter.

Re: Church records question
Jois is short for Johannes = Giovanni
Re: Church records question
ok, thank you. I was not positive. I was looking at the different names and saw Johannes spelled out on some records and then this Joi's.
Another question is what is the date? It looks like it was dated for May but then I clearly see April.
