I am researching the Surnames Failla/Buggia/Carderella/Muscarella I believe they all came to the US from Italy through Louisiana. Failla's moved to Il. Muscarella's some stayed in Louisiana and some went to IL. Some Muscarella's stayed in NY.
My great Grandparents are Anthony Failla & Rose Buggia.
My great great Grandparents are James Carderella (arrived in the US when he was a child with his sisters, his parents died in Italy) and Frances Muscarella.
Please contact me if you have any information or have similar surnames.

Re: Surname Research Failla/Buggia/Carderella/Muscarella(o)
I am currently looking for people who traveled to Louisiana in the 1900’s... but unfortunately even a paid subscription (Immigration) with Ancestry . com does not show the manifests for some 16 vessels of the years 1905-1910. I would have to order film from our local Family History Center or research ($$) from the Louisiana State Archives. Why are these manifests such a secret....
I haven’t given up on an internet search yet either.
Were you able to find manifests for names you mentioned? The people I am looking for made it to Louisiana from Sicily 1902-1904 ... but can’t find them (yet....). If you have any “Louisianaâ€Â

Searching for James Carderella's parents that died in Sicily during the late 1890's to the early 1900's.
James Carderella was born in Sicily in about 1890-1900. His parents died in Sicily and his sisters brought him to the US when he was a young boy. He grew up in Louisiana I believe Tickfaw with another family. I believe his fathers name was Joseph but I don't know what his mother's name was. He had a sister named Annie. James's first daughter's name was Jennie and he kept to traditions so I believe this could possibly be his mothers name. I don't know when about he came to the US and the last name doesn't seem to be to common.
Thanks for any help.

Have you checked James Carderella's marriage record? It should list both of his parents names and possibly his place of birth if he was married in the Catholic Church. You need a town in Sicily to do effective research on microfilm.

Thank you. I will send off for their marriage license to find his parents name
.
