With the help of the amazing jschotz I submitted my case in early September to the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia to have my deceased grandfathers birth certificate amended due to numerous errors. The case was accepted and the Division of Vital Records responded to the summons that they will not contest. All was good until…
The Court called last week asking for a letter from Division of Vital Records that I either missed when reading through jschotz posts, it might be a new requirement in general or Philly just being Philly. The Court needs a letter from DVR stating that an application had been submitted to correct the birth certificate of a deceased person, that the application had been rejected and a court order is needed to amend.
So keep this in mind and consider getting the rejection letter before proceeding with a case.
I must say that the Court has been quite helpful but it is delaying my case and my appointment is coming up in the beginning of January. I still need that BC corrected, the apostilles and translations.
