Need help translating a document to start back up

Post by fadippides »

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me translate this a bit to get the key information off it. This was my stopping point in research about a year ago and I need to get back into the swing. I am guessing it is a birth record since I see "given the name of" but cant make out the name.

I think its 1818 and has Michele Del Rosso as 20, his wife Maria Rachele Di Tullio 24 . I cant make out most the hand written part other than the standard born in the home, legitimate wife. The childs name I have no clue on, the first letter really throws me. I also thought the grandparents name would be listed as well but don't see them.

1818 recorded on the 8th born on 7th of March
Michele Del Rosso age 20 farmer
wife Maria Rachele Di Tullio 24 had a masculine child named looks like possible Diodato ( If you look at the top of the record the word DECIMO has the same D)
witnesses
Saverio Morielli age 35 farmer
Simone di Maulo age 50 farmer
Father and two witnesses signed the birth act

Michele Del Rosso and the witnesses were illiterate and they signed with a "cross".

Thanks for the speedy response.

I never knew about the illiterate part by signing with a cross, very interesting.
