Trip to Fano to find Mancini families

Post by mancini76 »

I am thinking of going on a trip to Fano next summer where I believe my surname Mancini comes from. I would like to research the history of my family but don't really know where to start. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Another thing, am I crazy for thinking to find long lost relatives for a visit? What are the chances of finding anyone?

There are 58 Mancini in fano so if you go to www.paginebianche.it and i nsert mancini in the first line and fano in the third line and click CERCA all 58 will appear by full name, address and teelphone number. Some will be businesses so you can discount them. There are two fano one is in the province of Pesaro Urbino which has the 58 mancini but there is a listing for Ville di Fano in the ;province of Aquila, abruzzo region which has no listing for current residents bearing the surname Mancini. Psaro ur bino province is located in the Marche region of Italy and safe to say that is most likely the town of origin for your mancini. The BIG PROBLEM you have here is that the fano in Pesaro urbino province has no civil records on microfilm while Ville Di Fano in the province of Aquila has a micrfoilm record of that towns civil recordsd butt has nobody residing in that town surnamed mancini while the Fano in Psaro urbino currently has 58 inhabitants so named mancini. Can you be sure which town is the town of origin?? Peter

The rreason why I have pointed you to the microfilm of the civil records is that they usually go back to 1809 and will cover all births, marriage and deaths in your family. The only other way of obtasining those records is by wiritng to the provincial capital. Please let me know which is the correct town of origin, Fano in Pesaro urbino province or Ville di fano in Aquila province. We can then take it from there. peter
