is someone willing to help me look up records?

Post by Dach »

I am trying to locate any Italian records on (Bonfiglio) Paul Del Giudice & Lucia Rosta. He was born Feb 3, 1873 in Fontecckio, Italy, I also have that they were married mar 9, 1893 in Fontecckio, Italy. I got this information from a us petition for cetizenship. If anyone could look for a birth, marriage, or any other certificate thru international ancestory.com if possible. I am also really interested in finding out about a son they has Ameico born 11/14/1902 in Fontecckio as well. I have ordered the films from the LDS family history center but I am having no luck understanding them or reading them. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank-you

Dach,

There are a bunch of us here willing to help but records for the years you're interested in are only available on microfilm or directly from the town. Specifically what films have you ordered from LDS--nati (births), matrimoni (marriages), morti (deaths), etc.? We want to make sure you have the correct films since you're having trouble reading/understanding them. There are a number of books as well as some online aids which will help you get a handle on the records. Most records are basically a fill in the blank form so with a little understanding of dates, months, and years and where to look on the document for information, obtaining vital details is fairly easy. The most difficult part can be interpreting the handwriting.

Also, you might want to check at the local LDS center to see if they have someone who is willing to help you at the center. Once you locate the records you're looking for on the films, you can copy to a flash drive and then post on the forum here for help translating. When you have some time take a few minutes to read/view the following. They'll prove invaluable in your search. We're here for help and to answer questions. Together, I'm sure we can help you locate what you're looking for. Patience and perserverance.

First of all you probably need an Italian interpreter. Next you might should obtain a copy of a book about the early handwritings because each letter was so different than our handwriting today. I purchased a used one on amazon.

Sometimes I have success with online translation programs. But you have to be able to copy the words from what you are reading be it in Italian or old English.
