Chicago area lawyers and notaries

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Chicago area lawyers and notaries

Post by Toscana »

I am assembling my documents to apply for citizenship, but really would like some professional help, if only for the sake of time and sanity. Does anyone know of lawyers/notaries or others who do the legwork and help you assemble your paperwork?

I already got the Italian documents in Italy, that was easy. The mountain of documents I must get from state of Illinois is another matter. Can anyone recommend a reliable honest lawyer in the Chicago area? Someone who has worked with others and perhaps has a nice reputation at the consulate?

Also, has anyone been through the "discrepancies" issue? I am sure that some of my grandfather's ( as well as father's birth certificate) will contain different spellings of first names. It will be painful. Thanks, Toscana

While I don't disagree with the above statement.......it's not
very helpful.

I cannot recommend a lawyer, however here is a link to a FAQ which has extensive topics including your question with regard to discrepancies in documents.

Good Luck

Hi,

While citizenship is a related topic, this site is primarily devoted to genealogy. You will find more people working with citizenship issues at ExPatsInItaly, including several people from the Chicago area.

Thanks for your comments, but indeed this whole strand/forum is devoted to issues of naturalization and citizenship. If this were not the case I would not have posted in the first place. Bacioni,
