I just got notice from Luigi indicating that our Hearing for the end of May has been moved to MAY 2021.

To those who are awaiting for hearing. After the COVID-19 lock down in Italy and the recent order to reopen, the Court of Rome is currently implementing a progressive re-opening of activities. The Tribunale di Roma website has public notifications on its front page and if I understood the one dated 05/05 correctly, upcoming hearings through August have been cancelled and rescheduled.

Luigi just filed my case today and told me that the waiting period to receive a court date is 10-11 months. But reading through everyone else's experience, it seems like people usually receive their date in 2 months or less. Is this just an overestimation by Luigi, and did he give this estimation to any of you? Of course, I know no one can be sure, especially with this health situation.

I am well-aware that we are in this for the long-run, but wanted to see what others think, and hoping for the best!

It varies. In 2017, it took the court 8 months to start processing my case after my lawyer - not Luigi - gave them everything.

My case was processed recently (with another Law Firm, Law Firm Bersani from Verona) and it took only 1 month for getting a date.

I don't know why 11 months... I have another friend that are applying right now with law firm Bersani (the same I used) and he had his date in 2 month.

24/06/2020 we got the first italian birth certificate

I just realized I have a 1948 case (never naturalized GGGF&GGGM -- GGM born 1911 -- GM born 1930 -- F born 1959 -- me) and will probably want to hire Luigi based on the rave reviews here.

Unfortunately my first US born ancestor's (GGM born 1911) birth certificate appears non-existent so I will want to evaluate what other documentation I can collect (eg whether her baptismal or school records can be found, and eventually her SS-5 when SSA opens back up) to see if I can get a court order for a delayed birth certificate in Philadelphia. I imagine that could take me two years with COVID. I had no trouble finding my Italian born ancestors' records in the 1870s Sicilian books, all neatly scanned online, so I know they exist. Thanks, Pennsylvania.

In the meantime, I could start collecting other birth, marriage, and death records. Two basic questions for others who have used Luigi I thought people who've done this recently may know--

(1) Did he have you also collect birth and death certificates for your non direct line ancestors (eg my mom, non-Italian GF)?

(2) Is there any reason not to get the low-hanging fruit records (like my own birth certificate, marriage license, those of my Italian heritage father, etc) apostilled now, even if it takes years to collect everything and to be ready to file? In other words do they age out and need to be redone within a certain time or is the apostilled doc good for Italy's purpose indefinitely?

Hello everyone!

I just got the news my citizenship (after 5.5 years) has finally been processed and I have my birth certificate emailed to me! I wanted to know if anyone could give me some pointers on where to go now. From what I can tell I’ve registered online in the AIRE, and need to book a consulate appointment now for my citizenship (or passport)? Also what else may I need to do? Luigi’s directions were a little vague and I’m awaiting a response form him.

If you’re in the process the day will finally come, be patient! I know it’s hard but it’ll all be worth it!

For a 1948 case, do I just order the $65 C-file online? For one ancestor I have the C# (the one male who I need to prove I can't go through). It says very clearly that it will be an uncertified copy. I thought things had to be certified to get an apostille.

As I mentioned above I just got my citizenship via court decision and had my birth certificate emailed to me. When I attached this to my AIRE Application so I can register there then make an appt for my passport I was told that the birth certificate "doesn't prove citizenship and only shows geographical birth". Luigi gave me no other documentation to send in and told me in his email that I need only attach the birth certificate and mention I got citizenship via court decision (which is exactly what I did).

Can anyone who has done it give me advice as to what else needs to be included? I emailed Luigi but got an "out of office" reply.

hello, we got 5 birth certificates per email. 2 wer meant for the embassy in Lima(Peru) and 3 for the Consulate in Cologne(Germany). All 5 were enough for the online registration via "Fast It". In Cologne we already got our Italian IDs and in Lima they got their passports. we never needed to show the court decision. It's really weird they're asking you for it.

Hey everyone

Thought it was time I posted here.

I've been following this site for the last few months. Last week (after a couple of COVID delays) we received our positive decision through the court, which is great news. If anyone needs any advice at any point of the process let me know. I am with Luigi, he is a great lawyer.

I am British so came from that angle, we started our process in April 2019 (but don't gauge anything by this as everyones process is so different). I live in Tuscany now with my family so I am very familiar with the Italian bureaucracy. Best of luck to everyone, here if anyone needs some friendly words on the process.
