Has anyone had any luck finding the birth of Vincenzo Carrozza, son of Marco Carrozza and Caterina Benenati? It should be some time between 1657 and 1683.

Was it common for Sicilians of this time to go by their middle names?

Death of Vincenzo Carrozza, son of Marco Caterina, 3rd on right
This is from August 1729, when he would have been 68. However, the death record says he was 55. I know a few years of innacuracy is to be expected, but this seems like to much of an inconsistency.

Thanks Marty!

I was inspired by you making a branch line for the records that you don't have, and so I made this:

Carrozza Branch Line

Nicola Carrozza
Pietro Carrozza
Guglielmo Carrozza (1569-1623)
Vincenzo Carrozza (1592-16??)
Marco Carrozza (1630-1683)
Vincenzo Carrozza (1676-1729)
Giovanni Carrozza (1704-17??)
Rocco Carrozza (1728-1797)
Ignazio Carrozza (1777-1848)
Giuseppe Carrozza Sr (1805-18??)
Giuseppe Carrozza Jr (1844-1901)
Salvatore Carrozza (1884-1959)

Missing Birth Records

Nicola Carrozza (either not in Monreale or before 1527, either way, it will probably not be found) - no later than 1525
Pietro Carrozza (either not in Monreale or before 1527, either way, it will probably not be found) - no later than 1545

Missing Marriage Records

Nicola and Constanza Carrozza (either not in Monreale or before 1527, either way, it will probably not be found)

Missing Death Records

Nicola Carrozza - died before January 1565 (possibly not in Monreale, and death records from the 1500s aren't indexed - probably won't be able to find this one)
Pietro Carrozza - died between April 1591 and August 1623 (depending on what year he died, this one may actually be accessible
Vincenzo Carrozza - died between November 1657 and April 1683
Giovanni Carrozza - died between November 1754 and January 1775
Giuseppe Carrozza Sr - died between January 1880 and July 1901

There is a Pietro Carrozza death 2/3 of the way down on the left, but I am not convinced it is the right one.

New Strategy:
I looked through the baptism indexes to find other children of Pietro & Lauria Carrozza.

Giacomo – July 17, 1571
Filippo – November 1, 1573
Dinata – March 15, 1577
Andrea – November 20, 1579
Franco – October 10, 1584

I will look for their marriages, and see if Pietro and Lauria are still listed as alive on those records.
Since Franco would likely not have marriage before 1605 at the earliest, finding his marriage would probably be the most useful. I will search for it now.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cc=2046915

Filippo's April 14, 1608 marriage is on the bottom right- I can't tell of Pietro and Lauria are dead or alive, can you please help me?

I googled Disiata, and got a lot of results related to the Jews in Sicily. Do you think this family was originally Jewish?

I'm not aware of any Jewish connection of the name Desiata.
The name derives from the verb "desiare" (nowadays "desiderare") and means "desired". In French "Désirée"
