My great grandfather was from Oppido mamertina. I think Family Search has some records from there.

Reggio is VERY good for issuing records if they are available and if provided with correct info. I am in contact with them quite often. Remember to write your request in Italian and provide as much details as possible. Do not request too many records at one time or you more than likely won't receive much of a reply. The person conducting the search will contact you within a few weeks with either a positive or negative reply with a cost for the records (yes, unlike the town halls the Archives do charge a small fee in exchange for the records) and instructions with how to send it. Generally they ask for Euros and want the money sandwiched between paper so it's not visible as it's been known to 'disappear' in transit. Once they receive the monies they will send you the documents.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and wondered if anyone has problems with State Archives in Reggio Calabria?

Back in September 2018, they had found a wealth of documents I requested and claimed to have attached a form for me to fill out to purchase the documents. I was unable to find the form and emailed them several times to please resubmit, but no reply.

Considering the 6 hr time difference, I phoned them several times and received a busy signal. My cousin in Italy, also tried phoning them on my behalf and said he received the same busy signal. Is anyone else having the same problems?
