Thanks, Marty! I am doing something wrong...I took the index number to mean the number in the upper right corner of the record. In the case of the record I found for Anna Isabella Iula the index says "91" but the record you found is "107." Can you tell me where I'm off?

Another instance - I have been searching the records for the death of Rocco Ottati in San Chirico Nuovo and found him in the index for 1819:

Index #5 Vito Ottati
Index #97 Rocco Ottati

However, I have gone over the entire record for 1819 and I cannot find a number "97"(it doesn't look like they even had that many deaths in 1819) or the #5. What the heck?

Thank you for helping me so much, Marty!

I have been searching the records and trying to learn how to read them, and I have found a record that doesn't make sense to me.

I was searching the San Chirico Nuovo indexes for mention of the last name CIANCI and came across an entry for a child named Domenica Cianci, born 8 December 1888 in San Chirico to Vito Cianci (age 23) and I think the mother is listed as Margherita Summa, his wife living with him (I think this is what the record says).

Domenica Cianci b 1888

My great great grandfather was Vito Cianci, born in San Chirico Nuovo and from 1886-1892 he had five children with Maria Sodo, also listed as his wife and living with him in the records. Could there have been two men in that town of the same age and same name?

Anna Rosa Cianci, b 1887

Carmela Cianci b 1890 - this record does note that this child is "legitimata"

I am not positive of my translation skills as of yet, so if I am reading this record incorrectly please let me know. Since both women are listed as wives and the child is not indicated as illegitimate, I'm a little confused. Did farmers have more than one wife?
