As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.
I am going to Sicily next month. I am going to have my grandson baptized thanks to an older woman who knows the parish priest. My question is how much of a donation should I give the priest? This is a very small village. what should I do for the widow who arranged this, she is well past 80 years old.
