Application Fee

I went to the Boston Consulate yesterday, and the officer there told me I still needed a few more documents! (Mother's statement she never renounced citizenship, some sort of proof of address besides my license, and death certificate)And that'd I'd have to come back to fill out the application once I get them!

However, I forgot to ask him if there is an application fee? Did anyone have to pay one?

You only pay when you get the actual passprt, it should be about 50 or 60$. THe death cert has to have the state apostile on it.

Also, once they send the documents to Italy you have to hound them. What happens is once you get approved, your birth cert has to be registered at the anagrafe in Rome. This usually gets done quickly, but they do not always send the confirmation back to the consulate, so I had to have a friend SOLICIT the response in they called and faxed the comine in Rome and they faxed them the copy in Italy, which in turn they faxed to me and I presented to the consulate. Make sense???
