So back before I knew about the dual citizenship I changed my last name. When I got married I hated my husband's last name. He hated mine. No one changed anything. We had a child and hyphenated it. Hated it. I kept pushing the idea of changing our last name to my mother's maiden name LaManna as I wanted my name to reflect my heritage. He finally relented and we all changed our names with a court order. LaManna is the last name of my great grandfather whom we are using to do the dual citizenship. My consulate is Philadelphia.
Now I'm applying for dual citizenship along with my 3 minor children. I have already contacted vital records and they have told me what I need to do to amend the name change on my birth certificate and on my daughters. I will also need to amend my marriage license through the local court.
Will they use my amended name for my Italian papers? Or am I going to be forced to use my stupid maiden name? The only place it will appear as such is on my children's birth certificates but I might be able to change that but it will require a second court order, it can't easily be amended. I sure hope that this doesn't cause a giant problem since I was just trying to be as Italian as possible.
If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. Trying to minimize the amount of paid consultation calls I have to do.
