Post by c1000mg »

I found 4 Death certificates of potential brothers and my Great-great-great-grandfather and his siblings but I am not sure about their mothers last name.

Her last name is Nasiti. (Just the 1883 record for Gaetano reads different - Nicita.)

I noticed that the name Nasiti still exists in the town today: http://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs= ... a+%28EN%29 I am sure it is Nasiti but it will be interesting to see what you find.

:) So based on that he would have only been circa 46 in 1833. I noticed some of your ancestors seem to live to ripe old ages so you just might be looking at a few more indices yet. I'll take a quick look for you at the other end working backwards. You go forwards.

This is the reason why I thought it was Nositi, #186 Francesco Paolo Schinocca (my Great-great-great-grandfather)

Whoops, this post was suppose to be on another thread that I was working on at the same time. I was wondering where it disappeared to. Sorry.

Sure, I can see how you might think this. However, look at the name Rita - the letter 'a' is formed similarly there. I still believe the surname is Nasiti.

It's a shame that the earlier records are not on line yet. I had a look through some indices as well and couldn't see anything that relates to the info we already have. It might be time to order the earlier films available from Family Search.

I did order the
Morti 1826-1830, 1832-1834, 1836-1837.
Morti 1837-1840, 1860; Processetti 1863-1910.
Morti 1852-1859, 1862-1865.

and I've been Indexing all my surnames into an excel file and slowly complete the data in each Document, I've only worked on my direct Ancestors... and I've done it with Nati, Matrimoni and Morti, but Morti is the one more completed.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Hopefully I can do the same with the film... but there is way too many Surnames now!! :)

Wow! This is impressive. I have something similar but it is not as tidy as yours. My one is specific to my surnames, who people marry, and the particular tree they appear in, which is colour coded and tallies with the files I keep. I have it printed it out and use it as a quick reference along with my pedigree charts. It has worked for me.

Yes, very sad. You could try going lighter and brighter. That will often enhance the image.

What type of reader are you using? My films are also the small 16mm ones and they also initially looked like this one that you have posted here. I started out using the old vintage readers then switched to the library's "Pro Scanner" which was an absolute Godsend. It took a while to perfect using it because no one in the library knew how to use it properly. I googled the particular model I was using, and found a tutorial for exactly the same scanner. This helped a lot and I was then able to get good pics, that were quick to scan and save to a usb stick. That reader/scanner eventually was moved to another department and the associate library where I was viewing my records bought the very latest scanner/readers but they were not as good as the "Pro Scanner", but heaps better than the initial vintage one that I tried. I hope that you ones come online soon. It's hard work looking at those films.
