I am trying to help my son-in-law research his Italian roots. The name is Maltese, specifically Leonardo and his wife, Concetta Cucchiara. He was born circa 1857; she about 1862. She travels from Palermo in 1906 with children Anna, Maria and Giuseppe[?] aboard the Napoleon Prince, bound for Brooklyn, NY. I am not sure if the families are originate in Palermo (he said his families are from Sicily) or not.
Leonardo's son, Joseph (born in Italy in August 1902) marries a Leonarda Cinquemani who was born 22 Feb 1907 in Burgio, Agrigento, Sicilia (the daughter of Sebastian Cinquemani and Francesca Maltese). Can anyone point me to some databases I can look through? I know there are Italian databases on Familysearch (I found my Calabrian relatives there looking page by page). I do not speak or read Italian, but will look through images looking for names that are consistent with the family as a start.
Many thanks.
