Is anyone else researching the Calciano family from Lavello?

Have you gone to the www.lucania.org website and reviewed the home page for the town of Calciano since, obviously the name came from the town itself indicating lack of paternity somewhere along the historical line. It was customary for orphaned children to be surnamed for the town they were born or an orphangae in that town. Peter

Thank you very much, I will look that up. I know that my husbands grandfather and great grandparents all came from Lavello. But this will be a good thing to check for his great great grandparents. Thanks again I appreciate your help. :-D

records only go back to 1803 and before that it was the church records so you better be prepared to deal with the clergy and church records. Peter
