Fusco

Hi

I am looking to get further information, about my Great Grandfather Peter Fusco, he was born in Italy approximately in 1888, however i am not sure of the exact date or city in Italy he was born. I know he did move to England when he was 2 or 3 with his parents.
I know he married Hilda Britton and his daughter Winifred Fusco is my Grandmother, but i just cant seem to find any history of him in Italy, except on England census records stating he is from Italy.

I am also looking to find out what his parents names are an their birth dates as well.

Any information would be great or being pointed in the right direction would also be helpful. I am really looking forward to learning more about my Italy ancestors.

Hi there!

The surname Fusco is found frequently in Lazio and Campania. In Campania it is widely diffused, but mostly in Naples and Caserta. Do you know what year Peter travelled to the US? Where was he located in the US?

I Believe he stayed in Wakefield, England, until his death in 1928 (age 40). I was able to get a copy of his death certificate from the England BMD. I did see an England 1901 census record sheet with a Francis Fusco, wife and a 3 year old Peo Fusco, but cant confirm if that was them, years match though. The census also shows they were born in Pozzilli, Italy.

Hi Mike! Sorry I don't know why I said US...I must have skimmed over the key word England!! The name Fusco is also found today in the area surrounding Pozzilli in Isernia, Molise (especially in Venafro, which is just next door)...If Peter died at 40 in 1928 however he would have been 13 in 1901. Could it have been a different family?? Possibly Francis was an uncle of Peter? If you think there is a strong possibility that Francis is a relative of Peter you should write to the office of the Anagrafe at the comune in Pozzilli to check if there is a birth certificate for Peter (probably pietro). There email address is: comunepozzilli@comune.pozzilli.is.it

Thank you so much for you reply and information, i will definitely try contacting the commune in Pozzilli and see what i can find there.

I also made an error, Peo Fusco is listed on the 1891 England census @ 3 years old, born in Pozzilli.

On the 1901 England census, looks like his mother was remarried to Gabriel Verdoni. In the 10 years between 1891 -1901 looks like Peter also had a sister (Mary Fusco) with the same mother & father, and his mother remarried, her and the new husband had 2 children Filemenia & Angelina.
