Here's one for you master translators.
It's a very difficult read, but I believe this record to be the marriage record of my ancestors Sebastiano Pampalone and his wife Catarina, whose surname appears to be de Simone. Catarina's surname is more clearly indicated in the "S" index on digital page 1458 (the very first entry).
I think that Sebastiano's father's given name is Salvatore and his mother's name looks clearly to be Angela.
Catarina's parents are unclear. Maybe Matteo and Vincenzo?
The date of the event appears to be the 29th of either November or December of 1670. I've determined that by looking at adjacent records. It's rather illegible here.
The record is on the upper left hand side. Grazie per l'aiuto!

Re: Marriage of Sebastiano Pampalone & Catarina
And now I have a real dilemma. Just a few entries down from the first on the index at page 1458 is another entry for a Sebastiano Pampalone and a Catarina. This time Turco, I believe.
That record is here (bottom right)...
Will the real ancestor Sebastiano Pampalone please stand up? I guess I'll have to keep both records on file and search for records of baptism and death. But how will I know which is my ancestor?

Re: Marriage of Sebastiano Pampalone & Catarina
The record that lead me to the marriage record of Sebastiano & Catarina was this record, the marriage record of their son Salvatore Pampalone to whom appears to be Pietra? di Falco.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cat=730834
This record shows Salvatore's parents as Sebastiano (Pampalone) and Catarina. Catarina's surname, as far as I can tell, is not disclosed. As indicated in my post above there are at least two different marriages for a Sebastiano Pampalone to a Catarina.
So, knowing the date of the marriage of Salvatore and Pietra?, I thought I'd look for the marriage publications. I found this one at the same parish (San Giuliano Martire), but there is no record here of their marriage. Odd. They were married at this parish.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cat=730834
My next step will be to see if I can find the marriage pubs at San Silvestro Papa, another parish of Calatafimi. I don't know, though, whether Salvatore was a member of that parish or not, or even if he is from the same comune.
If I cannot find another marriage pub I may be at an impasse with this line. I'm not sure how else to proceed.
Any suggestions?
Steve

Re: Marriage of Sebastiano Pampalone & Catarina
Well, it appears the available marriage pubs for San Silvestro Papa date back to only 1677. Seven years short of where I need to be. Dang.
There are no allegati online yet for this period either. The final page of the volume states "to be continued". And bride's maiden names are not disclosed on those records that are online.
I may be stuck, unless I can find some sort of work around. Maybe the witnesses to the marriages can provide clues?
