USCIS forms

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

USCIS forms

Post by mfemia »

Hello. Does anyone have specific info on which form(s) I need to file to request a copy of my grandfather's naturalization information? I got a response from the USCIS with C-File info, but the site is hard to navigate (in my opinion). If anyone has done this recently and remembers which form is correct, I would appreciate the tip.
Thanks!

I completely agree that the USCIS website is clumsy and difficult to use. There's a yellow button on the left that says "Order Record/Search Here." I just ordered a search. How long did it take to get the C-file information from them? I was very surprised to see their estimated time. (120 business days!!!!) Good luck!

I actually poked around more and found what I needed (the form, that is). The form itself is also pretty wordy and hard to navigate. I got my C-file info back quicker than the 120 days - maybe 2 months? I am now prepping to send my request - I'll take all the good luck I can get! Thanks!

Could you understand the difference between the C-file and the petition number? I have 3 different papers for my great-grandfather: his petition for naturalization, his declaration of intention and his naturalization certificate.

they all have different numbers!

-petition for naturalization: has a number at the top-right, just above where it says "original", but then there is an empty no.____ at the top left.

-declaration of intention: has a number at the top-left, but then there is ANOTHER number on top of that number.

-naturalization certificate: has a number at the top-left, presumably the certificate number, but then there is also another number, which is the volume and petition number!

SOOO, you can see my confusion! I have no idea which number is the correct one to give to USCIS to request this file. please help if you have any clue! I have uploaded some pictures of the photocopies I have for reference, and my finger to show where those numbers are.

THANK YOU!!!
