Processetti record contesting death date?

Post by saccolicious »

I'm transcribing processetti records for the town of Nocciano (PE), 1845, and came across this record that I'm not sure how to interpret. So far the folder includes:

1) Baptism of groom, Nicola di Gregorio in the nearby town of Civitaquana, to Pietro Paolo di Domenico di Gregorio and Ann'Antonia di Giuseppe Palumbo on 10 Mar 1808
...
3) Death record of father of groom - "Pietro di Gregorio, son of Domenico di Gregorio and Caterina d'Amario" on 18 May 1832 - extract from the books of the town of Civitaquana (I am also transcribing Civitaquana records so I already had this record anyway)
4) Death record of grandfather of groom - Domenico di Egidio di Gregorio on 23 Feb 1793
...
8 ) Quoted from the back of the marriage record - "Ottavo processo verbale con lettera del Signor Procuratore Regio civile, col quale si contesta la morte effettiva del padre dello sposo"

I've attached the two pages of that 8th document.

First, I can't find out what "sopracennare" means. Second, doesn't "mori fin dal giorno 18 Maggio 1832" mean he died "...since 18 Maggio 1832"? Both pages seem to say something about contesting Pietro Paolo's death date, but I'm not sure if they ultimately decide that the actual record from the death registers in Civitaquana is correct or not.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

This is what is written in te document:
"On 1845 May 15 Nicola Di Gregorio, in front of the Mayor and 4 witnesses, declared, under oath, that his father Pietro Di Gregorio died May 18 1832. The declaration was due to allow the Marriage of Nicolò and Anna Camilla De Felice, because there was a difference between the "extract of the death register" existing in the town archive of Civitaquana showing ("contestante"=containing the death of Pietro Di Gregorio, father of the groom, and the birth act released by the Abbey of Civitaquana were Nicolò is indicated as son of Pietro Paolo son of Domenico Di Gregorio."

"sopracennato" = "accennato sopra" = above mentioned
