Birth No 32: Maria Giuseppa Genua/Genna
Frigento: 8 March 1876, 9.15 am

Maria Salerno, 73, Levatrice (midwife) living Frigento, reported that at 9.25 pm on 6 March 1876, in the house in Via Limiti, No 3, from Maria Rosa Fischetti, donna di casa, wife of Vitantonio Genua/Genna, muratore, both living in Frigento, was born a baby girl who she (the midwife) presented, and to which (baby) the names Maria Giuseppa were given.

Witnesses:
Raffaele Famiglietti, 25, musicante (musician), and Marciano Telese, 24, contadino, both residing in this town of Frigento.

The declarant, (Maria Salerno, midwife) reported the birth in place of the husband of (Maria Rosa) Fischetti, who was unable to do so, because he was far from the town.

So looking at the link that mmogno has provided, among other things, we see that Vitantonio Genua (note the spelling) and Rosa Fischetti had a son on 18 February 1872 in Frigento, and his name was Sebastiano Genua, a contadino, so an older brother to this child. It says that he was the only son and that his father was living (in circa 1890?).

I see the word cattura there which means “capture” but I don't know exactly want this means in relation to this indexed record. The great thing is that these military records have been indexed and are on line there for you to glean more information. You would just need to register to search the site (State Archives of Avellino).

Thank you for the translation, Angela. And also for the clarification of Sebastiano. I wondered who he was and had no idea that was a military record so thank you again for a lesson! :)

You are very welcome, Dolores. Very happy to help :D I think that the Avellino State Archives Site would be a great site for you to sign up to. It's really user friendly and the registration is all in English. It might help you to fill in some gaps while you are awaiting more records to go on line.

I noticed you've made a comment about advertisements that pop up. I use to this have this happen too here on IG and especially with the Postimage site, and found some of the pop ups really unpleaseant and inappropriate. I mentioned it to my son when he was home from overseas on study leave and he put a really good ad block on my computer. It's fantastic, I don't get any horrible ads any more.

mmogno:

Thank you for picking up on the "among other things" and also answering my query about the word Cattura in relation to these indexed records.

The 3rd category was formed by all those, eligible, which were considered "family support"; all the others available, were assigned to 1st and 2nd.

This was the first time I had pop up ads on ItalGen. Aside from them being inappropriate, I am hesitant about the links and I stay clear of them. I guess I will stick with posting my Family Search links instead.........:)

I had a question, mmogno and/or Angela. Does the link on Sebastiano or anyone for that matter, have a photo? I want to be sure that I am not overlooking anything, as all I see are DOB and parents names...........thank you!
Grazie,

Dolores
