Index to Birth Records?

Post by February »

I just found my grandmother's Birth and Matrimonial Records at this wonderful site [url]http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/?q=gallery/url] . The folks on the translation forum kindly translated for me.

I'd like to search for any children born between 1901 (marriage) and 1906 (emigration), and wondered if it was necessary to go through every record. Is there (hopefully) an index to the names on the site? I was very surprised at how many births occurred in what I thought was the small town of Angri!

Thanks for any help.

You may use the analogic indexes at the end of the registers.
The one for 1902 starts here and continues for the next 7 pages: http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... 0.jpg.html

Angri was quite small, the birth registers are quite small, if the handwritten index is missing for a year it is not that time consuming to go through all the pages. Imagine that in Napoli or Palermo.

If you don't find the index pages at the beginning of the book check the last pages. If its not there either look for a 10 year index separately. Otherwise, yes, you have to go through every page.

The entry point for each year are found here, towards the bottom of the page for the ones you are interested to:
