1865 Death Act #2 - Maria Rosaria Musciotto

Hi, please help us read a Death record from Geraci Siculo. The online record is here.

It is the 1865 Death Record #2 for Maria Rosaria Musciotto - 15 Jan. Her parents are Giuseppe Musciotto & Maria Suppa.

I was wondering if Maria Suppa's last name would be Iuppa or Juppa since in the index I see many Iuppa or Juppa indexed between the G & L and no Suppa or Zuppa.

I've attached a copy of the record.

Great spotting, Gary. The name definitely is Iuppa, and still exists in the town today, as can be seen from the Italian White Pages: https://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs ... o+%28PA%29 There is no Suppa listed in the white pages for the town. (Ofcourse not everyone registers with the white pages.)

I've just had a really quick look at the other records that you have posted here, and again, I would say the name is Iuppa. I'll have a closer relook at the records later to make sure. Its quite deceptive because in some of the records the "I" is former similarly to an "s". I need to go out shortly, so can't translate this record at the moment, but hopefully someone else will do this for you.

Death Act No 2: Maria Rosaria Musciotto
Geraci Siculo: 15 January 1865, 3 pm

Appearing were Basile Scancarello, 60 yo, villico (farmer), living Geraci, Strada S. Michiele (mispelt should be Strada S. Michele), and Maestro Damiano Scavone, 51 yo, Bottegaio (shopkeeper), living herein. They reported that today, (15 January 1865), at 9 am, died in her own home, Maria Rosaria Musciotto, 26 yo, born in Geraci, no profession mentioned, daughter of Giuseppe (Musciotto), Pastore, and Maria Iuppa, both living herein. Maria Rosaria was the wife of Natale Savasta.
