Vicino family info

Post by mars2878 »

Hoping that I can get some assistance as I am looking to expand on the info that I have for my Italian side of the family.

Here is what I have:
My great grandfather Rocco Vicino was the 1st born in U.S. He was born on 06Aug1910 in Mansfield, Ma.

His parents are:
Guiseppe Vicino 11Aug1880 Corleto Perticara
Donato Maria Montano July1881 Italy

His older brother is:
Nicola Vicino 18Aug1907 Corleto Perticara

While searching Ellis Island records, I found the following:
Guiseppe Vicino left the port of Naples aboard the ship Re d Italia, was married & arrived in Ellis Island on 26Feb1909. Place of last residence/birth: Corleto Potensa. PASSENGER ID 101527012501

Searching Vicino on the Re d Italia in any year, any first name only shows Guiseppe Vicino. So it looks like my great great grandfather was the only Vicino to ever be aboard the ship Re d Itailia.

Searching in any year:
Donato Montano: I get 4 results. 3 males & a 36yr old female (too old).
Nicola Montano: 17 results, 10 arrivals before he was born, 5 arrived between 1921 & 1930, so that leaves 2 possibles w/ correct arrival time frames of 1907-1910. But no-go, they are listed as being 11 & 18yr old.
Nicola Vicino: 0 results

Searching in any year aboard the re d Italia:
Montano, 4 results, only 1 from Corleto Potensa, Roco Montano 22yr old married left from Naples, arrived 26Feb1909, passenger ID 101527012504 . no date of birth.
brother in law to Guiseppe?

Using Donato as a last name yielded 4608 results. using 1907-1910 gave 370 results. using Re d Itaila gave 6 results, all of which were listed as men.
using Naples gave 221 results:
Nicola Donato: 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25 & 40yr old (way too old)
Maria Donato: 24yr old aboard the ship Hamburg arrived 10Feb1909 passenger ID 101518012236. no d.o.b. (a couple yrs to young, but maybe a date is off somewhere).
Maria Donato: 1, 3 & 7, 9 yr old (way too young). 36yr old (too old)
researching the Vicino line, Nicola Donato Vicino, Margherita Logiodice, Rocco Montano, Lucia Montano

Pasquale Verbuic Possibly

Post by donnaloverde13 »

Hello My name is Donna, I am trying to find information about my father. He was born in March 4 1953 in Monte San Giovanni Italy as far as we know . His adopted mother wrote a check to the catholic committee for refugees in the Amount of $475.00 for his adoption . His birth name may have been Pasquale Verbuic. We are trying to piece together information about his life. He was adopted through Angel Guardian Home Brooklyn. Any information would be very helpful about the next steps we need to take.
Thank you so much

Rocky was my great uncle. His parents were Guiseppe Vicino and Donata Maria Montano. She was known as Mariana to her family and friends. So all the children named after her all have various forms of her name but no one actually has her name. My grandfather was Nicola Donato Vicino, although he never used that name. He went by just Nick or Nicky. He was born in Corleto in 1907 and was two when he immigrated with his parents. There were 6 children in total but only 4 survived into adulthood, Nick, Rocky, James (Jim) and Rose. Two boys known as Frank and John died two years apart, both at two years old. One died of influenza the other boy fell into a large bucket of scalding water and died. Rocky and Jim would move to Wareham after WWII and found Highway Concrete and Nick would move first to New York, then New Jersey and after the war return to Mansfield and found Vicino Buick on the site of the old family house. Guiseppe, Donata Maria, Frank and John, Nick and his wife are buried in St. Mary's Cemetary in Mansfield and Rocky and his wife, Irene, are buried in Wareham, at, I believe, St. Patrick's cemetary. I have lots more information if you want it. Rocky was a great person and died only about a decade ago.
